The Annual Enrollment Period (AEP) is the time to make the adjustments to your Medicare that will complement your health needs.

The Annual Enrollment Period runs from October 15, 2016, through December 7, 2016.  During this time, lean on experts for advice and utilize a local, valuable resource: the SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) Program.

SHINE is a program of the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and is operated locally through Elder Options. Specially trained volunteers help Medicare beneficiaries, their families, and caregivers to understand their health care options. SHINE volunteers are trained to offer free, unbiased, and confidential information and counseling concerning Medicare. SHINE encourages beneficiaries to review their benefits and evaluate their health care options each year. Acting quickly can assure a smooth transition into the 2017 benefit year.

To receive help from SHINE, individuals may schedule appointments at designated SHINE counseling sites, attend enrollment events in their local communities, or arrange to speak with a trained SHINE counselor at 1-800-96-ELDER (1-800-963-5337).
