Recovery From A Disaster

Elder Options staff work closely with a network of service agencies in Mid-Florida to offer disaster related information and assistance services. Through a coordinated effort with the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and local aging service provider agencies, we promote special services and relief efforts that may be made available following a disaster.

We also work closely with your local Emergency Manager to promote the special needs of older persons, and we encourage older people to prepare ahead by developing a family emergency preparedness plan.

Below are links to information that can help you prepare for, and recover from, disasters.

If you need additional information or have questions about disaster preparedness and recovery, please call us at 1-800-96ELDER/1-800-963-5337.

When you call for assistance have a paper and pencil ready to write down important instructions.  Keep your statements simple and state your needs clearly.  Do not apologize for asking for help.
