Understanding End of Life Choices

IT HELPS TO UNDERSTAND END-OF-LIFE CHOICES

It can be hard to talk about serious illnesses or life-threatening emergencies. But it is important to make sure your doctor and loved ones know about your medical care wishes before you are faced with a serious accident or illness.

That's where advance directives come in.

Advance directives provide you a way to help tell others about your wishes regarding treatments such as resuscitation and life-support machines. These documents allow you to state your preferences for medical care.

Advance Directives - include healthcare power of attorney or proxy, living will, Do Not Recessitate (DNR) or other advanced directions to guide healthcare decision-making if a person is unable to make or express decisions on his or her own behalf.

We encourage everyone to talk with their family, their friends, their doctor. Know the options. Decide what's right for you. And  then put it in writing. Below is a link for more specific information.
